Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

• Account data: email address and a securely hashed password.
• Story preferences: scenario, voice, intensity, pacing, duration, and any custom instructions you provide.
• Generated content: the AI-written scripts and audio files tied to your account.
• Usage data: anonymised analytics events (e.g. story generated, feedback submitted) to improve the service.
• Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

2. How we use your data

• To create your account and authenticate you.
• To generate stories based on your preferences.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To improve the quality and reliability of the service.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. password resets).

We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to third parties. We do not use your story content or preferences for advertising, marketing, or AI model training.

3. Third-party services

We use the following services to operate Velvet:

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Replicate — AI script generation and text-to-speech. Your scenario text is sent for processing only; it is not stored or used for training.
• Anthropic — content safety classification. A summary of your input is sent to check for prohibited content. It is not stored.
• Resend — transactional email delivery (password resets).

4. Cookies

Velvet uses only essential cookies and local storage for authentication (JWT token) and user preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics that follow you across sites.

5. Data retention

Your stories and account data are kept for as long as your account is active. Audio files are stored on our servers and accessible only to you. If you delete your account, all associated data (stories, audio, preferences) will be permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction — update inaccurate information.
• Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and data.
• Portability — receive your data in a standard format.
• Objection — object to specific processing activities.

7. Age restriction

Velvet is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, it will be deleted immediately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Continued use of Velvet after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
